At the rate we keep growing, we have no option but to expand to “out there”. We are already planning on sending people to mars. That fate has already started.
But will we stay in the solar system, or will we go “out there” and far away?
I think going into space is so expensive that the human race will hit a wall after which it will have to become more efficient or die out.
I think, perhaps, you under estimate human ingenuity. There are undoubtedly rewards for any group able to start sending people to Mars. Just look at the progress Space-X has made.
Where exactly is this space wall? I think we can at least make it to Mars. If Mars, then further out. If further out, than other stars. Prove me wrong.
